Resistant to cucumber mosaic virus, this is an early, vigorous type which can be picked small as courgettes or allowed to grow on into fine marrows. Sow April and May.

SITE & SOIL: a pH of about 6.0 and a soil with lots of compost or manure.
SOW: from mid spring in pots at 20°C.
PLANTING: harden off before transplanting in late spring allowing 60cm square between plants.
HARVEST: from mid summer.

Tip: because they take up so much room we often train the up (use poles or chicken wire or whatever you can think of in fact I know a lady who grows them up a pergola instead of roses...)
Ladies hang on to old tights as your marrow will need to be supported.
